terrible remake?

This seems like the girl version of mean creek. Adolescent canoe trip gone wrong=someone dies. What to do? Same premise, only this movie looks terrible while Mean Creek was far superior. Besides why make an indie movie the "profitable PG-13" when it will clearly make no money.

Mean Creek is a violence and revenge driven story... in this they aren't trying to hide a death, they're just trying to take the body home after an accidental death. So there's water and canoes? I don't see the resemblance.
