I haven't yet seen the film, but looking at the trailer doesn't this just look pretty much exactly the same as Mean Creak? i may be wrong but it just has the same kind of premise, four girls, cannoes, a death, trying to hide the death etc.

I just watched it on tv and it does have a Mean Creek feel to it which isn't a bad thing since I loved both of the movies..

Mean Creek is a violence and revenge driven story... in this they aren't trying to hide a death, they're just trying to take the body home after an accidental death. So there's water and canoes? I don't see the resemblance.

They way it was shot was very similiar as well as wrong thing happened when it wasn't supposed to happen.

deliverance did canoes, 4 people, and death way before it was cool. but you probably haven't heard of it.

It was absolutely nothing at all like Mean Creek. Completely different premise.
