CGI Syrup?

In that scene where Chris Messina is giving that monologue in the diner about love, and he pours syrup on the "home" he makes, is that syrup CGI? It kind of looks like it. I thought so, the guy I was watching it with didn't agree. I mean, it makes sense to do it, so the roof/cup mat doesn't flip off and give a different subtext to the scene, but I couldn't quite tell. Anyway, what did you think?

There's a very fine line between committing a felony and doing something really super-cool.

yes, spend thousands of dollars on cgi. I would totally send that off to industrial light and magic. No way you can pour syrup onto a coaster house made of toothpicks without blowing your budget. Can you imagine how many plates of pancakes and how many pitchers of syrup they might have gone through if they had done that intensely dangerous and difficult scene FOR REAL? [/sarcasm]

Without question it was CGI.
