by the way, Sims 2 vs. Sims 3!?

i know the graphics and speed of 3 must be much better...
but to me, it seems like 3 is purposely incomplete so they can gauge fans with all these expansion packs (which i keep reading on amazon, most people don't like) ... and not having University makes me side with 2 as the one i'm going to buy.

but what are you guys' takes?

I can only say I stopped playing Sims2 as soon as 3 came out. The major difference between the two is if you like to play a lot of different homes and switching back and forth, 2 is better. If you're content to play only one, 3 is better.

update: my friend had Sims 3 so he just sent it to me.

at first i hated the clothes and hair options, so i decided not to play it until i had downloaded lots of good stuff from other online sites
when i finally put all those downloads into the game and started to play... it was SO SLOW!!! literally i would click the icon for clothes and like a minute later it would finally pop up.

so, i think i'll probably not play this game unfortunately. seems like i'll need a whole separate computer to play it... because i didn't even get that many downloads and it made the game so slow. i can't imagine if i actually had everything i wanted.

so yeah, it sucks

The sims 2 is better than 3. I tried but I get bored with the sims 3.

Define better. Waiting for screens to load was hardly better. 2 was less buggy but it was buggy. If you like to learn skills and collect stuff, 3 is way better. If you like to run multiple houses and trade off, 2 is better.

Sorry, I should have put "IMO" afterwards. I like the Sims 2 because I have more control over what I want in the game and how I play the game. I still play the Sims 2, it's just more fun to me, IMO

Sims 3 is better. I tried playing sims 2 again a couple months ago but uninstalled it immediately because the graphics looked really crappy in comparison to sims 3. I also like that you don't have to wait for the game to load town lots when your sims go somewhere.

I'll have to say Sims 3.

My main beef with Sims 2 is they took forever to eat and go to the bathroom. Hours! If it wasn't for that, I would stick with Sims 2 over Sims 3. I enjoyed the ability to create brand new clothes, etc. Sims 3 was more limited. I loved the nervous breakdowns

The improvement that I liked with Sims 3 was the cemetery. I missed small things like the pointy ears but was able to find a mod that allowed this and other modifications in the game including teen pregnancies. I hated the careers in which they're inside a building, but you can't go inside.

Maxis should have the confidence to make the game as realistic as possible instead of trying to create artificial game play and goals.
