BAIT SHOP ripped off the storyline from a copyrighted screenplay

Word has it that BAIT SHOP ripped off the storyline from an existing, fully copyrighted screenplay, which had been read by major studios, attorneys and talent.

This whole mess will probably end up in court and anyone who is associated with BAIT SHOP will certainly regret it.

Why do they have to steal in Hollywood? Don't they know they will get caught by the legal system?

Hahahahahahahaha okay then. Alter Garbage Bridge must be the guy behind Bait Shop.

Its okay Alter, your the most garbagey person out there! Youll fit right in.

True, but until I see some hard evidence that this is true, "Word has it" = "my brother's best friend's nephew told me..."

Oh please -- this storyline is so generic you couldn't begin to argue that it was stolen from a particular source. "Underdog threatened with losing his house/respect from child/marriage enters a contest/competition against an arrogant jerk to redeem himself" -- that describes about half the movies made in the past 50 years. The similarities between this movie and the screenplay in question (if such exists) would have to be awfully detailed for this to have any merit -- and frankly, if I'd written such a screenplay, I'd hang my head in shame.

Crab-7:

You are far too defensive, so we must assume you were part of the theft.

This sounds like a classic, weak, desperate legal defense by a posturing, non-creative person.

Juries often see through your "generic" defense and award huge damages.

But the real question is--what sort of fools take investors into such legally troubled waters, anyway?

LIONSGATE should have been wiser and far more thorough in their investigation.

A paper trail never lies, so I'd sure hate to be waiting for that legal document to arrive.

...because Bait Shop was so good and successful.

Yeah, end up in court if the movie makes money - which it hasn't

Breaking news on this....

The producers have settled out of court for 50% of all profits from the movie.

A check for $53.80 was exchanged.
