Fashion is a misunderstood industry. I could go on and on about how fashion is a form of art on the same level as a beautiful painting or an Oscar-worthy film, but that would hardly matter to you, I am sure. Instead, I will take the most practical approach. Certainly, Valentino's career has had little effect on you or me, but what about the thousands of middle class workers employed under his company as we speak? Factory workers? Seamstresses? Office workers? Store clerks? Would you say that these people do not benefit from his career? In the toughest economy of our time, these people are gainfully employed and not lined up in the already extensive unemployment line alongside millions of others. Sure, his creativity contributes only to the beautifying of society and "the super rich and famous," but the business sprung from this creativity is of vast importance to a great many people who are neither rich nor famous.
