Lesbian sub-plot?

I thought all along that the sexual tension between Brittany Robertson's character and Madeline zima's was an attraction. And while that was interesting the non-conclusion to that storyline was annoying. I'd rather they never had it if they weren't going to finish it. The storyline deserved at least another scene to wrap it up one way or the other.
