FYI: Netflix is renting this disc WITHOUT it's Special Features...

I wanted to see this disc as much for it's extras as for the film itself, and it has some nice ones:

Special features: The making of Me and Orson Welles; the real Orson Welles; the Gate Q&A; the Mercury's Caesar; deleted scenes.

So i received the disc from Netflix this week...and it has no special features at all! Just the movie, and sub-titles, that's it. And on the disc itself, there's just the title of the film along with Netflix's logo, too, indicating these were made especially for them.

WTF?! This is the same kind of crap Blockbuster used to pull at it's stores, but at least with those you were pre-warned because you could physically look at the box and see if you were getting a rental only version. Netflix doesn't even include details for this disc in it's description... Silly me, I just assumed I was getting the actual commercial disc, because that's why I switched to Netflix a long time ago for my film rentals over idiots like Blockbuster. This is going to be very worrisome if this indicates some kind of change in policy on their part....

I just rented MAOW from Blockbuster yesterday and watched it. It has a deleted scenes extra, and segments of an interview with the actor who played Welles, Christian McKay, and an aged man who played Cinna the poet on the opening night depicted in the film. But the other material you mention above is not there. What is the deal with all these different disc formats? Surely, once the special features have been made, and incorporated on some discs, it is just as easy and no more expensive to put them on ALL the discs sold or rented, and not just on some.

In Australia, we often get discs which have the bare-bones film, while U.S. audiences have access to tons of special features. When this happens with some classic and much-loved movie, film fans are understandably angry, and feel they are being victimised.

I see things that never were and say WHAT THE..!.
