Stopped for Kerry; stayed for the story

I'll admit I had no clue who Kevin Max was. I'm another old school type who happened to see Kerry Livgren's face on the cover art as I was looking through the choices in Netflix's "Faith and Spirituality" section.
So I added it to my instant queue and finally got to watch it this morning.

Kevin's vocal's were very familiar, so pull up IMDb on the computer. Oh! Duh. DC Talk. Cool! Are his eyes really that blue or are those contacts? It's almost disconcerting how his eyes stand out like that.
Anyways, that's just a few of the stray thoughts that went through my mind while I was watching it.

The acting didn't grab me right away, I'll be the first to admit. But I still thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Mr. Millican, thank you for the ending you wrote. It was not all wrapped up in a neat wrapper with a pretty bow. It was real. And it gave us hope that Johnny would continue to seek Jesus and make Him the center of his life and stay strong for his wife and daughter.
The subtle little difference of Johnny *finally* pushing his hair back behind his ears in the last scene... thumbs up! I got it!

As for Kerry... I read his book "Seeds of Change" years ago and have enjoyed his volume of work. I was so glad to see the role he had - it was perfect for him. And while part of me was hoping for the gratuitous scene of Kerry picking up the guitar and playing a bit, I'm glad you didn't put it in. Again, it was more real that way. I don't know how you got him, but I would love to see the two of you work together again.

I could go on, but I'll spare you all the comments I'm sure you've heard before. Let me just say "Thank You" for following the leading of the Holy Spirit in making a movie that is not just milk, but more spiritual meat for a Christian that has been walking for a while.

It's not just The Man upstairs that you gotta get right with... it's also His Son.
