Exactly what I was thinking, but I love IMAY (as you can see by my username :D) so this should be good.

This is my signature.

While they have some surface similarities, it's actually very different to IMAY. I love both, but The Four-Faced Liar is messier than IMAY, and not as neatly ended.

I'd die for you. I love you. I love you so much it's killing me.

I enjoyed it immensely! loved it actually....not completely sure why, but the acting I thought was so well done. I kept thinking that Molly's bf was going to 'come out' or something...it seemed like they were going in that direction...anyone else sense that?

Yup. I was sure that he and Trip were going to wind up together, or at least experiment. There were plenty of signals that it was headed that way (like Greg's lingering double-take of the two guys kissing by the subway entrance while on a "date" with Trip) but nope. It was an okay movie, a little too drawn out for all that it was. This might have been more meaningful 20 years ago, or if it had been set in a far more conservative place than Greenwich Village. It all felt somewhat trifling and dated.

There are spoilers in this post.

I'm glad Greg and Trip never got together, it would have been too predictable and I don't think it would have been very realistic. Greg did show signs of possibly being in the closet, but what signs did Trip show of being gay? He seemed very open about himself and seemed to have no qualms about his sexuality (which I thought was very clearly straight). I mean, a dude who can be dressed as a girl who then hits on a girl seems straight to me (and extremely comfortable with his sexuality). Plus he seemed extremely hung up about his ex gf, realizing too late that he had something great with her.

I liked this movie. It was clearly more dramatic and serious than Imagine Me and You. I like both, but not everything in IM&Y is very realistic, but as a romantic comedy we accept that and enjoy it for that. FFL felt more real to me and I appreciated that there were repercussions from Molly and Bridget's hooking up. Also, I don't think the movie seemed trifling or dated. I also thought it seemed kind of clear that Molly and Greg were from a pretty conservative place or at least had a conservative background. Yet they were still very open and accepting people. Also, Molly getting with Bridget was very complicated. It messed up Trip and Bridget's friendship for a while, it hurt Greg, etc. I don't think the issue was that Molly cheated with a girl, but it was just that Molly cheated (same as with Trip, he cheated, didn't matter with who it still damaged the relationship). Greg did use harsh words towards Bridget outside but I think these were more out of anger than any hidden homophobia he may have had (or if we think he is secretly gay, his own denial could be showing through). The bigger issue was that Molly fell in love with Bridget. Trip was able to get back with his ex, because he was actually in love with her, Molly/Greg couldn't continue dating because Molly was in love with Bridget. I think Greg knew that as soon as he found out she was cheating, but was just in denial and didn't want to admit the relationship was essentially over (plus remember he viewed Molly as "perfect" and thought everything was great in their relationship, while she was confessing to Bridget that she felt something was missing).

Anyway, I agree that the movie was long in parts, but overall I still really enjoyed it.

I don't think it was exactly clear that Molly was breaking up with Greg for sure - IT WASN"T SPELLED OUT> Earlier she was afraid that he would leave and she kept saying "I can't do that to him". Let's face it, she never told him what she wanted - no commuication even though she told him everything else about herself, she didn't talk about sex. As far as Greg's concearnd , when he found out that she cheated on him he should have left. A rather confusing moving at the end.

It wasn't confusing at the end. Molly had left Greg and gone to Bridget, because that's who she wanted to be with. It was clear her and Greg broke up when she walked away while he was sitting in the car. They were definitely over, and had been since the night before.

Their relationship never materialized on that chemistry level. It was a logic and career test. No passion, no drive.
