just watched this , superb movie!

I was expecting a much worse outcome judging from the title of the film. but it actually ended without more blood shed and managed to be touching.

the granddad's performance was excellent, brought live the farm life he's enjoyed so much.

the cop's infidel wife, however, is the worse person in this film.

I most admit it took a while for me to become intrigued with Revanche. The narrative only begins to build once Alex is hiding at his Grandfather's farm, where the characters' introspection builds great dramatic tension.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Yes, that's what I found so compelling about this film -- the sense of morality and ethics which are not so cut and dry as in most films.

Is Alex a bad person for robbing a bank? Is the policeman guilty of killing an innocent? Is the wife sabotaging her marriage? All three of them are flawed, but are trying to do what they believe to be right, and end up struggling with the choices they've had to make. The viewer sees all three characters in turmoil, trying to make sense of a world that only seems to take things away -- a wife, a girlfriend, a child, a reason to go on. By the end of the film, each has found some modicum of peace. Firewood is chopped, apples are picked, and a new life begins, even as another passes away.

It's an incredibly powerful message, in a very good film.
