I have seen no evidence whatsoever that reality is what we see and sense. On the contrary, if one believes in evolution, one eventually has to conclude that our senses and our brains are not rational tools used to gather factual information about reality as it is, but rather pragmatic tools that evolution has helped us develope in order to survive and/or reproduce. Thus, we have no certainty wether the paradigm in which we survive is actually a reality, or if it is, for example, some sort of a dream, a computer program, etc.
Nobody has proved that reality in itself exists, only that our senses do. Descartes tried, though, but as we know, his entire argument was based upon the premise of God, and without this premise (which of course is fallacious in itself), there seems to be no rational evidence or empirical evidence in the existance of any sort of reality.
So why exactly should I believe the way you suggest?
(Not saying that believing in God would be any less fallacious, but I don't think it is any more so either.)
