Mr. Ulman arranges to meet up with her, yet stands her up.

Was he merely sizing her up from a distance? But why bother? Why not size her up in person?

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.

Well, when HIS idea was stated in the movie out of the characters mouth (from the script) and the others are mere speculation, I'd say his idea is more sensible.
