Various random thoughts

I don't think it's fake, but it's edited so heavily that it doesn't seem real.

I'm not sure if the reports that no cases that go to federal court are shown, but that's fairly interesting if true.

They rely a LOT on intimidation and threats and I believe they violate the Constitution at times. In particular there is an episode where they bust a couple of street level dealers and convince one to flip. On the way to the buy a guy walking down the street sees them and the busted flipper says that the kid on the street is going to tell everyone what's going on. So what do they do? Stop the car and detain this guy who was merely walking down the street.

Another time they make a traffic stop and tell the guy he fits the description of a guy who robbed a store. That one was interesting because the narrator makes a big deal out of how they don't want to let him know it's the DEA, but the agent clearly has DEA written all over his clothing.

If I ever got pulled over by a DEA agent on a flimsy excuse like that it would freak me out and I would know something was up. What's the DEA doing investigating robberies anyway? (Free clue: They are not unless they think they're drug related).

There's a huge disconnect between what the narrator says and what is shown and what's really going on.

In other episodes they threaten to destroy people's homes if they don't give up the drugs. I've always wondered about this. So the cops can wreck your car and/or home if they *think* there are drugs present. They have no respect for property. And if they don't find anything, what is their liability?

Somehow I don't think this is what our Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the 4th Amendment. (The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.)

They love to talk about how dangerous their job is and no doubt it can be, but they are NOT putting their life on the line everyday despite what they want you to think.

These agents have no idea what real life is like.
