90 minutes I'll never get back

This film has got to rate as one of the worst I have ever seen...the dialogue was meaningless inaudible babble...the childrens condition was unexplained...the scenes of anyone walking to investigate anything went on for ages...lingering shots of radio dials and toy windmills...snow and frost that only seemed to go for a hundred yards then suddenly stopped...if it was so cold why was there no visible breath coming out of there mouths...where were the emergency services?, it was meant to be Warwickshire not the Russian Steppes

An absolute waste of the actors time..the crews time..and more importantly my time

AVOID THIS DULL FILM AT ALL COSTS

Add 5 more minutes that were wasted complaining about it. And more if you come back.

It was more of a warning for other un suspecting potential viewers

reply

So your complaint is that you can't understand plain English, and the story wasn't spoon fed to you by some unnecessary exposition scene?

Hmmm.

"Nothing says "OBEY ME" like a severed head on a fence post."

reply

No my complaint is that the film was a shambles from beginning to end with every cliche thrown in just for safe measure with no sense as to why what happened happened

And no I don't need the plot of films to be spoon fed to me, but sometimes you need to know why things happen..it's as if the writers & producers etc say 'How shall we explain the happenings'....'Oh don't bother, they'll watch any old *beep* lo and behold..they are right

Night of the Living Dead. Never explained why that was happening. I don't think that really hurt the film. How does that spoon taste? The Children is great terror.

did you also watch it on bbc?

Can't help but agree with the OP.

Dreadful, pointless waste of time.

Didn't even make it all the way through.

Dull? I have seen this film seven times and I still find myself looking behind me as I watch. This is absolutely one of the most genuinely intense, unexpected, unpredictable and frightening films I have ever seen. What is really sad about this film, is that it never got the distribution it deserved state-side, thanks to the usual glut of crap remakes or crappier sequels that dominate U.S. screens just after a Fangoria write-up. Shankman knows horror and despite what anyone else says, he knows what scares the hell out of us. Dull? I don't think so.

reply

I think there were some pretty intense moments. Some scenes caught me by surprise.
The one where the girl pushes the boy down through the hole in the door.

I for one consider my time well spent.

The OP doesn't like the movie clearly, but I'd say, watch for yourself and draw conclusions afterwards. I'd never tell anyone to NOT see a film.

i'm a big horror movie fan and I thought this was garbage. the kids were about as scary as Mickey Mouse.

Mediocre but I've seen far worse movies

reply

I love horror movies, I have seen thousands and this is one of the dullest I have seen. The children were not scary at all, the story was nothing special, the actors were ok. Avoid.

reply

You will get them back.. Oh, yes, you will... In the inferno hahahahahaha..

Amen. To all that you have said.

I couldn't agree more. Any dialog at the beginning was either drowned out by the musical score or the childrens' laughter or screaming. (The latter may have been intended by the director since those children were in charge form minute one.) I thought the film had potential because the children were really scary, but I could not get past the adults never calling for help. The adult male in the sledding crash wasn't dead. No one tried to stop the bleeding or take him indoors to stay warm until??? was help even called?

No one acted or reacted logically - the children weren't supposed to, but the adults???! Waste of money and time.

I disagree completely. I noticed every detail you did and none of those things bothered me in the least except I did get a bit frustrated at times when they were mumbling to each other. Otherwise, extremely well acted, directed, etc.

It was very creepy, but I agree that the dialogue was almost inaudible!
I didn't care much for the ending, but the idea that Casey was infected was very scary.
The 'dead' radio station was even more chilling, as it strongly implied that this was far beyond this remote area.
