The credits say the movie was filmed on location in Michigan, however the barn inside and out looks exactly like where TXRD skates, and can also bee seen in the tv show Rollergirls (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0497306/)
So were just some parts shot in Michigan, but all the skating was in Texas?
Some of it was *definitely* filmed in Austin. I live in Austin, and i loved being like, "I know where that is!!" LOL. That's weird that they would go from Austin to Michigan. Interesting.

Principle shooting was in Ypsilanti. The film crew took over a city neighborhood for a couple of weeks. Several of the actors hung out at karaoke night at the now-defunct Elbow Room.
