Moaning Low and Am I Blue

I was quite surprised to have been familiar with a couple of the Henshaw tunes used in this film, it seems that a pair were sung in other movies by other actresses.

Moaning Low was famously sung by Clare Trevor in Key Largo. I can't help but feel that Ms. Trevor locked up the Best Supporting Actress Oscar on the strength of her acappella rendition from that film.

Am I Blue was sung in the film To Have and Have Not, Hoagie Carmichael and Lauren Bacall sang it as a duet.

Henshaw's voice was unique, and the recording quality of the tunes used in Sita were surprisingly good.

I tracked the film down after reading Ebert's four star recommedation...this was easily the most interesting new film I have seen this year.

Like most jazz singers, Annette Hanshaw sang songs written by other people, and many of these songs are standards sung by many many singers.
