The movie doesn't have much to offer. The cast is atrocious. The acting is terrible with the exception of Phillips (though her character's actions are just as repetitive as the kill scenes). The special effects are poor. The baby looks like crap. Actually the baby isn't even as realistic looking as the puppet in the original.
This baby throws adults around. Figure that one out. You only see it's evil face once, and it's at the bottom of what anyone would have expected. It's neither monstrous nor human, more just like dirty cartoon baby with shark teeth.
The worst of the acting comes from the guy who plays the detective/sheriff whatever. When he isn't deliver the most unbelievable lines, he's driving past the same background in his squad car over and over again.
The movie is watchable but its not one you'll be happy to sit through twice.
The ending is absolutely awful. No climax at all.

Macabre, I'd read your post right before I popped the movie into my player. YOU WERE RIGHT! Especially about that week ending.Thank goodness I only paid one dollar at redbox!

I don't rent a movie at RED BOX without first checking it out at IMDB. Red Box likes to fill up with junk and no-name crap. They have a few name films but most of it ranges from suckfest to fair. (Not to mention that many of the movies get scratched immediately.)

When I saw that It's alive was coming to Red Box I couldn't help but think that it probably sucked. Reading the reviews here I won't even waste a buck trying to see it.

And it seems like it is getting to be more than a buck lately because the machines keep breaking down and don't allow you to return them. Then you have to go through the trouble of bringing it back again and trying to get credit. This movie doesn't sound like it is worth the fuss.

RED BOX is sure a great idea. It's like a much smaller video store with an inferior selection. Brilliant!

I agree. I don't think Bijou gets enough credit as an actress. Did anyone see her in Wake? She was actually convincing as a sweet good girl type, something I never expected she could pull off.

Agreed on all accounts with the OP. The original is a strange enough story, but they hacked the hell out of the remake.

You're right, I watched it tonight and thought it was awful. I didn't even get as far as the ending as I got bored.

It began quite promising actually, and I actually took to the couple, but then the killings were just repetitive with no real sense of tension or suspense. It didn't make me feel anything, just didn't work for me at all.
