Sooooo Gyllenhaal

He's been on a complete roll. I dare say he's the best actor in the business at the moment. Since 2011 he's been doing quite well. Source Code - his performance was A1. End of Watch - his performance was A1. Prisoners - his performance (and the entire movie) was *beep* Enemy - his portrayal was surreal and no doubt A1. Nightcrawler - although I do agree he shouldn't have been nominated I will not take away from the INCREDIBLE performance he did. Accidental Love - HE was okay... Southpaw - he was awesome and put in a lot of hard work, sadly the rest of the movie wasn't that good. Everest - everybody in the movie's acting was good, the movie ehh. Demolition - from the reviews he did amazing but the movie itself wasn't so amazing.

I agree. Dude is on that Phoenix/DiCaprio rise right now.

Though for me he deserved not only the nod but the Oscar win for Nightcrawler

reply

He was not nominated for that on the Oscars. He did however deserve a nod.

and I thought I was the only one who thought he should've won the Oscars for Nightcrawler!

Jake Gyllenhaal is #1 now, he gives his soul to the movie, the first time I noticed him was in Prisoners, since then I wait his movies like crazy! He is my favorite now.

My top actors trought out my growing up years..
DeNero --> Depp --> Jake

I think it's both the fact that he's a great actor and that he can choose his projects wisely. I'm sure he gets sent some duds that would make him a lot more money, but he seems like he's trying to keep his artistic integrity. That's cool.

you're right. Accidental Love was made in 2008 doesn't even count. He turn out his career and is on tthe top of acting right now.

One of the better actors working today. Picks real quality scripts.

Saw the movie today - LOVED IT. JG was spectacular and the child actor (Judah Lewis) playing the son of the Naomi Watts character was equally impressive.

Great mix of black comedy and drama while offering a unique perspective on dealing with loss and grief.

Until this year, With Nocturnal Animals, A terrible performance which made me nearly lose all my respect for him.
