Don't Waste Your Time

hi,
i am a turkish guy from turkey.
i saw that movie and i have to say that don't waste your time about this movie. there's nothing about cinema or a story.
i feel shame but i have to be honest that there's not any movie for "real cinema art" since 1960's-1970's in turkey.
so.. don't waste your time for turkish movies.

You are a wus! There are great cinematic masterpieces and screenplays for rather small budgets... If you have seen Eskiya, Yol, Babam ve Oglum and you still have this idea go change your brain with an upgrade!

Sorry to be that furious but I can't stand that kind of an ignorance...

I guess those 6750 people that voted are all wrong then.

reply

This is really how it works in IMDB a bunch of that nationality of that particular country would vote it higher. Since only them can really understand or suitable for thier country when infact its not really a good film for everyone " Tips always know the film where it came from and if had been recognize by intrenational films critics, if its not from hollywood"

So the number of Thousand votes can be all Turkish HAHA :P

reply

Yes that is what happened. In fact a number of nationalist press outlets here in Turkey actually steered people to review and vote up through urls to IMDB.

The film is mediocre at best, and while not as nationalist as some would think, has become the darling of nationalists who are reading iinto it conclusions that are no in the film.

It is the "Green Berets" of Turkey. Green Berets was a cheesy patriotic war movie set in Vietnam to lose to understanding Vietnam.

Ultimately this film is about failed military polices; and the craven, brutal and dishonorable conduct of our military leaders, who prolonged and exacerbated the war agaisnt the Kurds in the southeast of Turkey through a war of scorched earth, which any indigenous people would have reacted to with "terrorism."

It is precisely (and thankfully) the long march toward rejecting the parasitic military class (not the conscripts presented in the film but there leaders and strategists) and it policies, and the growth toward democracy that has reduced the rebel ions and terrorism among the Kurds -- not raping women and killing their children by the thousands.

Our solders are heroic, but our military leaders are a stain on the honor of Turkey and thankfully they are more and more frequently and effectively told to shut up. The Turkish people don't want conflict with our neighbors drummed up with nationalism so the Military can stay in power, and we don't want our minorities brutalized any more. Enough. we want to be a modern honorable people.

"Cagdas ve onurlu bir millet" anlayisin eger Ingiltere veya Amerika olmaksa kardesim, hayal kirikligina ugrayacaksin, benden soylemesi.

Turk Ordusuyla ilgili biraz daha kafa yorman gerektigini dusunuyorum. Turk tarihini de degerlendirmelisin; ki zaten aslinda ikisi birlikte degerlendirilir cogu zaman.

Ve gercekten, eger ulkenin ve dunyanin su durumunda bile kendi ulkenle ilgili boyle konusacaksan; bari "azinliklari eziyoruz onurumuza yakismiyor" kalipli parcalayici tanzimat kirintisi cumleler kulanma. Dusunerek konus. Dusunmeyi bilen herkes de neyin ne oldugunu gorur zaten, ve sen yanlis goruyorsun.

Sana karsi en fazla bu kadar kibar olabiliyorum, kusura kalma.

This was the first Turkish movie I've ever seen. It didn't impress me.
