Looks interesting

Wow, I've never been the first to post about a pending film. Anyhow, this one definitely looks like it's worth a trip to the cinema.

If you love Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it copy this and make your signature!

Yeah saw the trailer at the movies the other night, looked disturbing and interesting, with a american beauty vibe.

I saw this at the Adelaide Film Festival...and pretty much after the first 2.5 minutes it loses steam. The script is really juvenile and almost embarassing at times and the acting is very amatuer...I could go on, but I don't want to spoil the fun for when you want to come on here and critique it! The photography was great though....but comparisons to Blue Velvet/American Beauty are...well just go see it and you will know how ridiculous that is.

I have to agree, although I think you're too kind.

The script is half-baked at best, the direction is that of an amateur and some of the acting is absolutely pathetic. The use of music is also really, really bad. I can't see how anyone could compare it to Blue Velvet or Donnie Darko. The comparison to American Beauty is only that the writer/director is clearly influenced by it, and tries to borrow heavily from it.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It is an embarrassment to the Australian film industry, which isn't really going great guns at the moment.

I just give thanks that I did not pay to see it.

Ha. I'm so glad I've found another hater...I was starting to think I was alone after reading Empires and Film Ink's reviews.

Film Ink said 'Beautiful' was worth $14.50...the same that it gave 'Let the Right One In' and more than it gave 'The Reader' and 'Easy Virtue'...I'm pissed that I was foolish enough to pay $12 for it.

I agree that 'Beautiful' is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Even awful thrillers, such as 'I Know Who Killed Me', have entertainment value. A warning to all out there that enjoy B- movies; this isn't a 'its so bad its good' movie...

And as to the use of music...the entire film I was reminded of year 9 music composition and the program Sibelius we used to play back our compositions, with all the dodgy synthesized trumpets/clarinet sounds...something you look back on and cringe at...and then I was shocked to see that Paul Mac composed the score..a kind of respected Australian musician (I really like the Dissociatives). Ergh..it was horrid and so distracting! The non-suspensful music was especially *beep*

I want to slap the person in the face who was responsible for greenlighting the script and providing funding.

I want to support the Australian (and especially Adelaide) film industry...but why is such an embarassing film getting promotion?

reply

I want to support the Australian film industry too, which is why all prints of this movie should be burned.

As someone who watched this film, I'm right. Dead right.
And I have no interest in Snakes On A Plane 3.
What people should be making is films based on well written scripts.
