I was really put off by the chart Caleb's mother had on his bedroom wall. It was a chart that said Brave on one side and Unbrave on the other (I think that's what it said). For every brave night he had he would get a mark on the brave side and when he reached 10, he would get a new game and when he reached 10 on the Unbrave side he would have one of his video games taken away. That to me is terrible! Why would you punish a child for being afraid? I have a four year old daughter and I can't imagine doing something like that to her. It's like a warped version of the points system for getting good grades or doing chores. I'm sure she loves her son, but that to me is a terrible idea. You can't punish a child for being afraid of the dark!

OH I KNOW! I was watching that exact same episode last night and I was extremely angry about that. I agree with you 150%.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was upset by that. I remember seeing the number 11 on the one side and I think it was for the "Unbrave" side. I'm not sure if it was an eleven or she was just putting a 1 for each night? Either way, it is just plain wrong.

Acctually it said "Not afraid" and "Afraid", and the "Not afraid" side had the two markings (looks like 11 but probably means 2, one mark for each night). And about the mom taking away one of the games, it's just for a week. But I'm with you on the part of it not being the best system in the world.

Yeah it's still really sad that he gets punished for being scared of thing even the MOM is afraid of.

I know! His mother is afraid of this, but she expects a young child to be brave when she isn't. That is just plain selfish to me!

I have a 4 year old daughter and this really hits home with me. It makes me feel so terrible that some poor kid is not allowed to be afraid. I could never do that to my child and I can't imagine my mother ever doing that to me. What really gets me is the mother is afraid of these things, yet she wants her son to be brave.

I agree the point system threw me off too, but i think she just didn't know what else to do. if the kid isn't able to stay and sleep in his room all night, how are you suppose to deal with it? i think the words "brave" and "unbrave" really just meant whether he made it through the night or not.

This is Calebs mom and I really dont appreciate your judgments with out know the whole story. The room was pink because it was my baby daughters room and I moved her in with me and put him in there so he could actually get a good nights sleep for once. I have been reading peoples opinions on here and man all of you sound like idiots really.

This is Calebs Mom Kim. I find that your comment is so arrogant offensive and ignorant. You have no Idea what we went through as a family. His room was pink because he moved into his little sisters room to not be scared anymore and I didnt have time nor the money to paint it before the show sent someone over. And obviously I was at the end of my rope with ideas. SO please grow up and know that the mothers do read the comments and find them to be close minded and stupid.
NOthing was scripted either, the show helped my son and the other children tremendously.

This is the whole reason I came on this board. I was ver bothered by this, I have 2 kids and I couldn't imagine in my wildest dreams punishing them for being afraid of ANYTHING. I thought the mom was punishing the boy Caleb because after so many points under the "afraid" category he'd have a game taken away from him, horrible, just horrible. Maybe he isn't psychic, maybe he's just *beep* in the head by a parent like her :(

Well intresting which episode had a kid named Caleb cause I am some what psychic and my name is Caleb. Plus I wish Chip could help me with my issues but yeah he is a hard man to reach.

You know Capri69(great name btw MOM) This is Calebs mother and your comment is so ignorant and offensive. You have no idea what we went through as a family. I love my son so very much and would never ever hurt his character. The point system was a last resort because I tried everything else. So you get awoken every night by your kids and sit up all night with them crying and screaming until you have no energy to be a mom then you message back but till then take your god awful judgmental bitchy attitude elsewhere.
God you are awful just awful. What responsible mom has 69 at the end of their screen name unless they are a stripper or hooker or just a plain slut.

"Calebs Mom" is a real nut job. Firstly, your child isn't psychic, no one is. If what they do is real contact

Secondly if your child really believes that they are psychic there are some underlying social or mental issues that need to be addressed by medical professionals. Dog the Bounty Hunter and A&E can't give you that. By putting your kid on tv you are only validating their misconceptions which is going to make the rest of their adult life confusing and difficult.

Psychiatric medical help takes time to work through layers. It takes time to develop a real rapport with ones doctor. Your son needs help, you might be making things worse for him and putting up more psychiatric layers w/your point system and tv exploitation. Working with medical doctors prob won't give you instant gratification and stop the night terrors after the first appointment, but its a whole lot saner than putting your kid on tv.

You say you have a small child, well imagine that she doesnt sleep EVER and she cries all night every night. You take her to therapists, doctors of all kinds and no one seems to have any great ideas, none of them ever worked. Have a heart. You hurt a hurting mother.
