Why Scare them?

I haven't seen a whole lot of episodes and I only probably believed 2 out of the 20 children I've seen (one was the little girl who depicted when her grandfather would die and maybe the girl who saw Jordan...maybe her). I think a lot of these kids have issues, most come from either single family homes or they have parents who seem to be into this type of activity and/or encourage it.

The little boy, Gavin??? I think his name was. Seemed a little autistic to me, maybe Aspergers?? The boy with Mr. Rosenberg. Well, it seemed like the first time he saw a spirit was at his mother's friend's house who they seemed to be talking about the person who hung themselves in the garage and then he suddenly saw the body. I think this boy's parents encouraged this because they wanted him to have a gift but what it ended up doing was alienating him from his friends and peers.

However, that's not what my post is about, so sorry about that! I want to know, WHY do they have to scare the kids? That psychologist that fell over and said she was pushed was so fake the way she fell it was disturbing she did it in front of the little girl. The other thing was the cabinet door opening...it was already open to begin with and then Chip says "hellooooo" and scares the kids. Why?

What do they gain from scaring these already either confused or extremely sad cases of children with problems that make up stories for attention? I think it's wrong on all levels and think that they should take a serious look at how this show is run. Just my opinion.
