As A Skeptic...

I... am a skeptic. I do not think that any person possesses any "psychic powers" or has the ability to "communicate with the dead." People like the ones on this show and the other shows on SciFi do nothing but to promote this pseudoscientific bull$hit making seem like it's science. It's not. There's a reason serious scientists don't bother with the "paranormal", it's utter crap. Having an EMF meter and some thermal imaging cameras is NOT evidence of spirits, demons, ghosts, angels, etc. Honestly, if things like this actually occured, scientists would be all over it. But something that requires a person to "believe in it" beforehand is not a scientific or intelligent way to go about it. Go ahead, search your "haunted attics" and such, you're just wasting your time.

The military has had a legit psychic unit that used astro travel techniques to steal secrets from other countries. Google is your friend, and their has been many programs and official discussions about this on the history channel and other major networks.

reply

OMG The internet is not gospel. You can google people who still think the earth is flat. Does that mean the earth is flat? no!!!!

All the military psychic projects gave zero results and have been cancelled.

How about providing reliable sources for your information on these projects.

You're the one making these claims. You provide evidence of their existence and their efficacy.

And perhaps it failed because psychics don't want to cause death.

How convenient. So we're to assume all these "psychics" have this kind of moral code? Are they born with it?

You said there were no scientific research studies being done on the paranormal. That is wrong, it's being done in a lot of universities and other places.

I'm sure there are some studies being done. I don't think any major university is undertaking anything though. If you think I'm wrong, you're free to prove it. You see, you're the one claiming that "it's being done in a lot of universities and other places." I don't believe that it is, not in a LOT of universities though. So prove that it's being done. Show me some studies. I'll be happy to show you study after study that disproves psychic abilities.

I never said there were no scientific research studies being done on the paranormal. Link me to my comment where I said that.

I'm waiting.

There are plenty of research projects involving the paranormal. Folks from the CIA, FBI, NASA, etc. are interested and involved.

They haven't researched psychic abilities for decades. They did research them, and found out they had no validity.

Source for your information?

You want a source saying that these agencies AREN'T doing something? Here's something, "The Stargate Project was the code name of one of several projects established by the U.S. Federal Government to investigate the reality, and potential military application, of psychic phenomena, particularly "remote viewing:" the purported ability to psychically "see" events, sites, or information from a great distance. These projects were active from the 1970s through 1995, and followed up early psychic research done at Stanford Research Institute (SRI)."

People from those agencies are actively involved with ghost hunting.

Source for your information?

Here are some sites with there studies:

The U.S. government lent credence to such claims when it revealed that it had spent millions of dollars recruiting and training psychic spies during the Cold War. Furthermore, research studies have been reported that appear to support the existence of ESP, including an influential series of experiments analyzed by psychologist Daryl Bem of Cornell University. These studies, however, gave little insight into the mechanisms -- normal or paranormal -- that produced the anomalous results. Perhaps more telling, others failed to replicate these results.

They have a show on On Demand called "In Search Of" with Mitch Pileggi instead of Leonard Nimoy and it's about 10 minutes per episode. They did one on remote viewing and the guy seemed to demonstrate the ability by drawing a location he didn't know about. Maybe he was tipped off before hands, but who knows?

i think this is a pretty solid debunking on the paranormal or people who claim to be of or related to the paranormal.. http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/1m-challenge.html

people should always be skeptical of tv tricks. Even magicians know magic on tv is cheesy, because its just edits.

reply

Ghosts must be believed to be seen...

reply

Thats so stupid beisner68..

reply

"Ghosts" are only seen by people that believe in them. Nothing stupid about that, unless you consider the fact that they actually believe in ghosts.

reply

That is a stupid statement. Many people start believing in ghost after claiming to see one. Most paranormal shows have someone on each episode that claims not believing in ghosts until they happen to "Have an experience".

reply

I disagree. It's not a stupid statement at all, not any moreso than someone claiming they do believe in ghosts. I personally don't believe in anything supernatural: gods, fairies, angels, Bigfoot, Loch Ness monster, Chupacabra, ghosts...the list goes on. I've never seen anything that could be considered "proof" of the supernatural and I'm certainly not going to be swayed because someone on TV, who claims to not believe in ghosts, has an experience that changes their mind.
