Really?

So this says that the DVD was released in Brazil in 4/09? Damn that really shows how much faith there is in the US audience. I would really like to see this but it looks like it will never be released in the US. The UK always seems to get the better releases. Lucky

You can order it on Amazon now... and you can also download it for a dollar off of Movieberry.

I think it shows more that the US theatre market is dead. Digital movies and HD tvs have killed the exhibition industry. It's really the studios' own fault though for pushing digital projection. In the end it isn't actually saving theatres any money but actually costing them more. It's hard to recoup your advertising budget in America right now because if you aren't getting a huge release theatres wont advertise for you with posters and trailers. Also tv ads cost more so with low budget movies the advertising budget ends up being too much for an initial release in America.

It's much easier to release it overseas where people are hungry for anything American with a big name attached. Then build some profit to use to back a US release. That's one of the main reasons bootlegs from countries like the Philippines are available before the film (and I use that term loosely) is released in America.

In the end studios really shot themselves in the foot with by pushing digital projection because why watch a movie in a theatre when your TV has the same resolution and is only missing 40 lines of pixels on each edge? They didn't factor in theatre advertising to their equation and now we all have to suffer with poorly funded releases.
