Eritrea

Not a country I know much about. I had some research to do on Eritrea recently and my interest was piqued as to whether or not any films from the country existed. This is one of the only ones I could find. It's less about Eritrea and more about ethnic/tribal divisions within Eritrea. That said it was nicely shot and the people used as actors were very good. The young girl who played Awet was really good. I'm not aware of the controversy surrounding the film (according to the other thread on this board) and I'm not sure how much it matters. Children used to fight in civil wars is a phenomenon worth talking about and this film shares its IMDb film year with Johnny Mad Dog, another film about African child soldiers.

I rate this between 7.5 and 8/10. Lovely soundtrack music too.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.
