Something about Rio...didn't work for me.

I really thought Cairo was great, laughed a lot.

Rio had me laughing twice, once when they're making camp and it's all peaceful until you see OSS covered with blood and trying to prepare a giant ridiculous alligator. The other was the gardener having a Sean Connery tuxedo and car just sitting around.

But everything else was...meh. I don't know. It felt like they had a solid script going, then threw in extra blood and sex when the last film wasn't about that at all. The gag with the asian guys running in saying he killed their brother, I groaned when I realized it would be a running gag.

They did the call backs right (the blue print especially. Completely forgot about it!) but still, things just felt off.

And that girl. She speaks Israeli for a second when the guy says "Stay calm we need him." It's looking like she's going to turn on him...and then nothing becomes of it.

Again, I loved Cairo. Can't wait to show it to friends. I may tell them to skip on this though.

Also, the American agent swearing in english randomly DOES NOT translate well at all, but I shouldn't be bothered by that anyway.

Random, but I missed Bernice Bejo SO much in this! New girl was pointless.

Well I'm sorry you didn't think it was that funny.

I happened to see this one before the first movie. And thought Lost in Rio was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. I eagerly got my hands on Cairo, and also thought it was hilarious. On the balance I slightly prefer Rio.

The American agent swearing in English was hilarious. It works in so many freaking ways. It is obviously funny on face value, but combined with his absurdly poor French it is amusing as a double-dig at Americans for being unbelievably priggish dicks. Plus it was preceded by the more sly joke of Flantier asking Trumendous: "So... the CIA is interested in South America?" and Trumendous giving him a 'look' and bursting out laughing.

Do not tell your friends to skip Lost in Rio. You will be denying them some quality funny.

Yeah this one turned had too much gratuitous "gross out" stuff.

Yeah I didn't like this as much as the first one.
