I'm not sure whether it's a translation error or else ignorance on the part of the writers, but in the English dub versions, they treat it as extraordinary that Golgo 13 could score kills at 500 meters or 2000 meters away. 2000 meters on a cold-barrel shot is long, but not impossible for a military sniper. 500 meters is well within what even a basically trained rifleman could do with iron sights on a standard issue combat rifle, and a scoped precision rifle could reliably hit a target at twice that distance.

I noticed that as well. I could reliably hit targets at 500 meters with iron sights with an ak5 (modified FN FNC assault rifle) while in the army. Sure I wouldn't have been able to hit someone between the eyes or even the head reliably at that distance but definetly a center mass hit.

With the scopes and weapons he has at his disposal a head shot wouldn't be difficult at 500 metres unless the conditions are horrible. 2000 metres is a different story alltogether though. That's difficult even at perfect conditions but alot of people could hit someone at that distance. But golgo 13 is shown to land several bullets in rapid succession with absolutely no bullet spread at that distance, NO ONE could do that. No one could do that at 500 metres let alone 2000 metres. Even a small gust of wind hitting the bullet early in its trajectory would be enough to mess that up.

He's not using a spotter and 2000 metres is very much near the upper echelons of sniping distances that are possible. The 500 metres I admit seems a bit low.
