This is clearly one of his worst movies
Kim Ki-duk is not a bad director. He makes great movies, like Time, Bin-jip, or Bad Guy, or The Samaritan girl, or Spring etc..., or even The Bow. These are well done movies, and the only reason I didn't mention the Isle here, is because I'm not a big fan of torturing animals, but otherwise: well done! What do these movies have what Bi-mong doesn't?
They have a message. Not always a very clear one, not always a very strong one, but they're about something. This film has a lot of bad symbolism (like the white and the black dresses) a lot of unneccessary violent acts (like the man, torturing himself to stay awake) and of course the director's favorit: the tragic suicide, with beautiful images after, but no message at all (and the assumption, that everything is a dream, and it's hard to find love is not a message, it's an assumption.) Maybe he should make less films, and sleep before them himself.
