I don't get why there was Chinese man suspended from the ceiling ...

Can somebody tell me why after those people died after breathing in toxic fumes during the night. When he's praying over the mother with her baby, why is there a man stuck on the ceiling?

Uxbal's gift was that he saw the dead, before they moved on. Like the young boy at the beginning at the funeral home, and the old man on his bed. He only saw the one Chinese man, on the ceiling. The others had moved on.

There was more than one on the ceiling.
