What he should have done for his kids' future...

He should have turned himself in for the (manslaughter) death of the Chinese workers. Had them throw him in jail, and put his kids into the foster care system. I don't know how good or bad the system is in Spain, but at least (hopefully) his children would be taken care of until they aged out. Saving up a year's worth of rent was an incomplete and short-term solution. Ige would need more than rent money to take care of herself, her baby and his two kids (did she even have a job?). If their system is anything like ours, they'd try to place the children with his brother...Which could be bad for them, or maybe he'd step up. But after Ige spends all the money, then what?

So basically you're suggesting his kids go into foster care or live with his dirtbag brother who banged his wife?? What do you think he'd probably end up doing to Uxbal's daughter?

Who cares that it was only enough money for a year's rent? The black woman (sorry I forget her name) would have a whole year to find some kind of job to save more money for when the money he left runs out. At least the kids have a chance with her.

I think the director clearly paints how corrupt Spain can be. I'd rather my kids at least have a year with her than put them directly into foster care and be separated from each other.
