Great film

Saw this at the Lone Star International Film Festival in Fort Worth this past weekend... really enjoyed it, I think it was my favorite film of the festival. The theater was pretty darn full and everyone seemed to love it as well. Go see it if it's ever showing near you!

Just saw this on the IFC channel. LOVED IT. The ending was quite moving. Great acting by the entire cast, fantastic scenes and dialogue.

i thought it sucked. the music was distracting & annoying, first off. then the themes & characters. the only likable character was dax. so olive can trick him into getting her pregnant & that's ok in her eyes. i'm not saying giving her the pill was any better, but he was right, she did start it with the deception. i can't stand people who trick their significants into having children, as the children are the ones who wind up suffering. not only was she a liar, but completely selfish. & what was with asking her father with alzheimers if he would like to be a granddad. hello, people with alzheimers do not even know where they are most of the time, let alone know who the people are around them. i can say this from experience, as i cared for an elderly friend who lived with me for 7 yrs until she passed. the whole portrayal in this *film* was ridiculous for too many reasons to list here.
then you have the useless brother & his disgusting love interest. euthanasia anyone? more cringe worthy scenes. yes, i am sure most people have known people like this to the point of cliche'. did we need to see the mute fiance vomit? then they just disappeared. i kept waiting to find that they had stolen things, but just another sub plot that went nowhere & was relatively pointless, except for the references mentioned by dax about how dysfunctional his family is.
olive seemed so dopey as did her friends. what was with wasting all of the toilet paper wrapping a pregnancy test (& box)? the scene would have been just as effective with burying it in the waste basket. then the scene with her friends talking about their dog eating hash brownies, without making a responsible note that dogs are allergic to chocolate (that amount could kill one). it may seem i am nitpicking but this film seemed so immature on so many levels, & it seemed to try so hard to be an intellectual indie, when it is anything but. just another example at how dumbed down our society really is, if anyone were to take this as intelligent, thought provoking, OR inspiring.

I'd been wanting to see this for a while and finally did tonight. It was okay, but it was always very bizarre in some parts and it was a lot shorter than I thought it was.

I'd really like to see the reverse of this. Can you imagine if the guy wanted a baby and she didn't, so the guy pokes holes in her diaphragm and she got pregnant. Women would be jumping all over this saying he baby-raped her, but a woman tricking a man into having a baby is barley even frowned upon.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.
