C'mon get real people [spoilers]

This is a mostly depressing film about sex, drug addiction, Alzheimers, deceit, and depression. The tone is extremely nihilistic. If most of the people don't recognize that, I'm wondering is it because their own lives are possibly just as empty. Look, this is NOT a comedy. Anybody who thinks this movie is a comedy should look in the mirror. The ending -- extremely ironic. But the ending does NOT make this movie a comedy.

The saving grace for this movie, and it is a big one, is the ending. I must admit the ending is brilliant.

I didn't think this was a comedy either. Quite the opposite actually.

It's not listed as a comedy, nobody is calling it a comedy. Where did you get that from? You seem to have made it up then posted about being against it, very odd.

And it was a pretty good movie, not amazing not terrible. From some first time writers/directors i've seen way worse...

I'd say it was a comedy-drama, with ironic undertones, esp. the ending.

BTW, can't they just get rid of Michelle Williams and completely replace her in Hollywood with the female lead in this film? They look an awful lot alike, with the exception that this lead can actually display EMOTIONS. Her acting potential is tenfolds compared to Ms. Williams! Too bad she didn't get the Blue Valentine role, she would have won the Oscar instead of I-danced-but-I-didn't Ms. Portman.
