The troublesome thing about most any stand-up movie...

I'm sure the audience was indeed laughing, however, whenever there's a wide shot or a close up of the performer that features the audience in the background and it's clear that the actual audience response ISN'T what we are hearing, there's something just, for a lack of a better word, sad about the whole ordeal. Do producers really think the viewer doesn't notice such things?
