How could you not know who the killer is???? SPOILER!

It was soooo obvious. I mean if the killer was Mary Hatchet, then why didnt they show her killing? You only got views of the deaths not of her doing it. Also, always look for who leaves just before a death.

Danielle Harris is the killer. Easy to figure out. Also figured out that she was Mary Hatchets daughter. Not much of a secret. They should of stuck to the ghost storyline, it was way better.

One more thing, how come seven people all run away from an 18 girl with a garden axe? I mean, shes not that big and there are like 7 of them????

All that being said, I loved this movie. Its one of the best recent independent horror movies Ive seen in a long time. My only complaint is that its hard to come by. I had to have a friend buy it off amazon.

Could you spoil the deaths for me? Or mainly explain how Danielle gets killed if she's Mary's daughter?

reply

Hey I said, SPOILER.

The final boy/girl strangle her. Its not like she could put up a fight.

Mary Hatchet is really a ghost, she kills them in the final scene. One of the best scenes in the movie.

Other then that, everyone dies. Like I said, awesome movie.

I totally agree with that. I mean the scene where shes in the back seat of the car with the family is probably the best in the movie.

I don't know the director's true intentions, but I thought you were supposed to automatically know who the killer was. And that Mary Hatchet/Mattock was still a ghost. That's why I sat back and enjoyed the ride. It had what I liked in a slasher that's not to be taken seriously. Teens that deserve to die, nudity, lots of gore, and Danielle Harris. With an emphasis on the Danielle. I thought she made for a pretty awesome little pixie killer. You get lots of death in the beginning, then a long time with the characters to make the anticipation of them dying even more worthwhile. And a very hot Danielle Harris, who delivered the fake-out monologue when she's introduced perfectly. Her monologue was actually probably my favorite part of the movie. Demented and funny as hell.

I do agree though that Danielle is wasted in movies. She's so damn talented. Annie and the sheriff were the only redeemable characters in both Halloween remakes. And it broke my heart when she died.

So I liked this movie a fair bit, but I don't get why everyone is all about Danielle Harris! I mean it was nice to see her again after playing the wee Myers girl and then in the Halloween remakes, nice reference for fans, but she's okay as an actress. Nothing I'd rave about like. Certainly not "wasted in movies". She does what she can and it's okay.

And so obvious who the killer was. But maybe that was the point? I mean if you wanted it to be a huge surprise then give the others a chance to be suspected, but they really didn't...still enjoyable with a nice wee cast and some old school throw backs!

Yes they should have just stuck with the ghost story, once it became obvious that Alyssa was behind it the whole movie fell face first.

Anna Paquin's character in SCREAM 4 would've loved to watch and critic this movie.

It was so horrible/cliche/predictable. And the special effects were so cheap. There's literally one shot where it looks like they copy & pasted the guys head to the shot when it gets cut in half.

"What world are you living in? I don't need friends. I need fans."

You guys are taking this movie far more seriously than it took itself. It's a gory supernatural slasher. With Bill Moseley dressed as crazy Ralph from Friday the 13th. It's meant to be a bit of a throwback. And the effects were great, especially for the budget. If you didn't appreciate this gore then you must not enjoy a lot of horror movies.

B-movies aren't supposed to be examined under a microscope, some of the complaints people are making are utterly trivial. If you're complaining that it's "unrealistic" that Mary Jr. could kill all of these people...are you forgetting that the opening of the movie features a 12 year old girl brutally murdering her parents with ease, followed by that same girl ten years later killing a building full of people with her bare hands? They set that precedent from the start. You might not like it, but the film adheres to its own internal logic.

And then there's the fact that Mary comes back throughout the film as a ghost. This movie is obviously, thankfully, not concerned with realism. Horror doesn't require realism. Realism is boring. Realism is a movie in which nothing much really happens. Apply the laws of reality to horror classics and suddenly The Exorcist is a movie about a sick girl who ruins her mom's party, Evil Dead is a story about five friends getting high in the woods, Halloween is an after-school special, and Nightmare on Elm Street is a John Hughes movie. I'll take fiction over reality, especially where horror is concerned.

I thought the same thing... I mean I knew who her daughter was going to be before they even told her the kid was dead... before the killings started. just based on the cast.
