There were several problems. *Spolers*

1. As soon as this movie started, I unfortunately knew it was going to suck, but I kept watching and hoping for more. The editing and effects were so cheesy when young Mary was killing her parents. The hospital scene where she completely twists the nurse's neck around ... how would that even happen? I did like the montage of newspaper clippings and all that introducing us to the tradition of "Blood Night." But, sadly, that was my favorite part of this movie.

2. She was a stick thin girl running around naked with no weapon in the beginning (I'm assuming). No one could take her down?

3. The cops shoot her. Why? She was just standing there with no weapon. I don't understand why they would shoot her.

4. We are introduced to the teenagers. Some of the worst acting I've seen in a movie and I've seen a lot of movies. The only person in the initial group of teenagers that didn't make me want to take the movie out was Billy Magnussen (Eric). He was funny and had pretty good timing.

5. What was up with Nate Dushku (Alex)'s hair? He looked like Wolverine.

6. You have to wait so long for the action to take place. Eventually I grew tired of the bad acting and pointless sex.

7. Danielle Harris. She's well known, she shows up half way through, and then disappears. She is obviously the killer.

8. A bunch of our friends are dead. Let's hop in the car with Graveyard Gus and go to the old mental asylum. Police? Nahh, they can't help us.

9. Once again, the only time I cared when a character died was Billy Magnussen (Eric). The rest of them were completely unlikeable, annoying even.

10. None of these guys can take down Danielle Harris? Really? What is going on? She doesn't even have a disguise on. It's not like they don't know it's her. They can see it's little tiny Danielle Harris running around in a school girl uniform. I don't remember who it was that punched her in the face, but all I could think was, "Finally!"

11. All of the deaths were SO CHEESY. Not like somewhat cheesy, they were just awful. I tried to take this movie seriously, but then some horrible dialog or effects would come along and ruin everything.

12. If they would have marketed this movie as a horror/comedy it would have been great. All of these problems would have worked for a horror/comedy. Cliche story, cliche killer, bad acting, horrible effects, cheesy editing, but for a serious horror film? I can't believe this movie was actually made. My brother was in the other room while I was watching this movie and said, "It literally sounds like you're watching Scary Movie." And he's right.

13. One more thing that I slightly enjoyed about the movie was the humor. It had a few funny moments. Danielle's monologue was funny, the story about the one character's parents having sex made me laugh (the pictures were weird ...), and the last thing that made me laugh, but was very out of place, was when Graveyard Gus is trying to break the door down and Alex (I think) just turns the nob. That was funny, but I mean, your friends just died and you're in a mental asylum, not the time for jokes.

All in all, this movie is just ... bad. Not many redeeming qualities.

One thing I noticed not just this movie but a LOT of "abandoned place" movies there is still electricity going to the place. As soon as they walk in the door you can see the exit sign still lit up. If they wanted to make it believable at least have the power be totally off. The movie Dr. Giggles was another where the power was on to a long abandoned place.

Next time I'm looking for something in my file cabinet I'll have to say *beep* a few times, then holy *beep* and I'll find it.

Yes, I definitely agree. I've seen so many movies that are supposed to take place in abandoned asylums or hospitals and they have working electricity. It's so annoying!

I agree with what you have said. Additionally I would like to add my problem with the story told around the board by Graveyard Gus. How did ANYONE know what happened if the police found headless bodies and no baby? Everyone was dead and no witness. So they automatically make up the background that some naked chick walked around, got in the car, left the car, took the baby, baby back, girl in car again, killed, took baby. Absolute rubbish.
