After that story...

...about Sid hanging the poor cat, all my interest went out of me. I don't ever want to hear about that guy again, and I don't care about his music either. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt over the Spungen murder, but a person who could torment an animal is a worthless psychopath, and he can rot for all I care. I won't see the new movie, and I turned this one off. If I had given birth to that monster, I would have offed myself too.

reply

Yeah that ruined it for me too. That alone makes me think he was capable of actually doing it, but after that - yeah who cares. Makes me never want to listen to the Sex Pistols again.

Milk...it does a body dead

Well, you can still listen to the Pistols.

Sid wasn't a good enough musician to actually play on the album and all reports state that Glenn Matlock and Steve Jones played all the bass parts on their recordings.

reply

I was just gonna write that but you beat me to it. Three years ago! He wasn't even a member whilst the NMTB album was recorded, was he?!

"Hot lesbian witches!"

reply

boo hoo he hanged a cat ... that's irrelevant. when i was 15, i was having a cigarette one night, out on the balcony, which was on the 9th floor. some guys, were outside, grabbed a cat and were playing with it. i shouted " guys that's such a cute cat " and after i said that phrase, one of them, grabbed the cat and smashed it on a building. I was horrified. Now, this guy has a family and a life. Point is, everyone does messed up stuff when they're young. Don't know why, couldn't care less.
I do believe he was innocent, and as for the cat .. i would've punched him, to be honest.
People do way worse things than hanging a cat, don't go off judging, throw stones and call a person a "monster", when clearly, more bad things are happening. I'm not saying it's ok, but it's not unusual.

reply

Torturing animals is not usual or something people just "do" for kicks. You have to be fu*ked in the head to smash a cat or any living thing against a building or hang something just for the hell of it. In fact, torturing and killing animals for no valid reason is one of the signs of someone being a damn serial killer. No amount of rationalization and "I saw a dude kill a cat and he's a family man now!" makes that sh*t ok. Are you not aware John Wayne Gacy, one of the worst serial killers in history, also had a family and a life? Being a psycho and being a family man are not two mutually exclusive things.

Killing an animal for fun doesn't "prove" someone is a murderer but it sure as hell doesn't help to portray them in a sympathetic or sane light.

And you know, I think it's ok to judge someone who, at the very least, is culpable for not helping the woman he loved from bleeding to death. This trite crap about how "more bad things are happening" in the world doesn't take away from the fact that the whole situation is disgusting and was completely avoidable. You know how not to have people throw stones at you? Don't become a damn junkie and leave your girlfriend to bleed to death in the bathroom.

I've seen fanboys/girls defend the object of their affection but the above post if just ridiculous in its blind fandom. You can like the dude without dismissing the seriously disturbing behavior he and other whackos you've met in your life have exhibited. Jesus.

reply

i never said that sh*t it's ok.
my point was, i've seen worse. and plenty of whackos too...
you wrote your opinion, i wrote mine .. and to be honest, i don t care who is right or wrong.

You are a Sick individual

reply

I suppose you were reffering to me. Thank you !
You don t even know my name . I rest my case.

I actually love cats btw.

reply

On the contrary, it's extremely relevant that he banged a cat. I think the film was hinting that the cat's family whacked Nancy and framed Sid as revenge for the banging. As for Anne Beverley, I think she was retrospectively getting the belated abortion she wished she could afford when she was younger.

reply

That story could be *beep* too. Its funny that people are offended by him killing a cat, but don't give a *beep* he may have murdered another human being.

reply

Nobody anywhere in this thread said anything about caring more about a cat than a human being. What they made perfectly clear was that it's difficult to give anyone the benefit of the doubt once you find out that that person tortured and killed an animal.

Revenge is a dish that best goes stale.

reply

You talk as if Nancy was some sort of human being.

Ok, well technically I guess she was.. but if I had to choose between being sad about her death and being sad about the vicious murder of a cat, I would be much more sad about the cat.

The film was good, and I'm sure the cat story was not "made up," in fact SID basically confesses in his version of "My Way." There is a verse that goes:

"To think, I killed a cat
And may I say, oh no, not their way
But no, oh no, not me
I did it my way."

Also, his live version of My Way that I have on an old cassette is called "I Killed A Cat."

Hearing the story about him killing the cat certainly made me have a lot less respect for Sid Vicious. Anyone who does that to an animal is not a rebellious kid having fun.. only a psychopath would do that.

I used to listen to the song My Way almost every day. At one point it was my favourite song. I was a huge Sid Vicious and Sex Pistols fan. But *beep* Sid Vicious. I'm glad he's dead. That may sound unreasonably harsh, but so what. He had it coming, even if he didn't kill Nancy. It's just too bad he has been made out to be such a hero by so many people. He was possibly the worst bass player I've ever heard.

reply

I'm just now hearing of this movie and reading this thread started almost 6 years ago. I'm sickened by the cat hanging story but can't say shocked. I am in agreement with the original poster. For me it is one thing to kill an adult human being. The scene of Nancy's death was described as chaos. And Sid acting like he was unaware that she was dead in the bathroom and blood on the bed. For me most human beings can protect themselves. An innocent cat is another story altogether. Basically defenseless against a bully of a human being. Studys show most all killers begin with small animals before moving onto human beings. So to whoever thinks " Oh boo hoo. Sid hung a cat. .." to make light of that umcompassionate sociopathic action must be mental and hateful as well. We simply MUST be kind to ALL creatures. I am often sickened by the actions of mu fellow humans towards eachother and other creatures....

reply

I am not mental and none of you know know a thing about me.
I simply have said my opinion. I am not sick either, nor on my way of becoming a serial killer or whatever judgement is being passed on for simply commenting on a post.
