Colourless

What's with this current trend of making basically every sci-fi movie and show look drab and depressing?
Besides this annoyance it does look like an okay movie, I love the book.

reply

It's weird. Deserts are actually bright colorful places.

reply

Yeah, it's just as bad as the orange and teal crap started by Transformers and copied in many other movies and posters.

reply

Well it's not that surprising when you think about who directed this movie.

reply

villeneueve is a great STFU

reply

Yeah i agree, I didn't mean it as a criticism, just saying his movies are pretty dark and depressing.

reply

his movies are masterpieces this will be too

reply

I get the feeling it has to do with saving money. Similar to how packaging for the same brand products of differing flavors in the grocery stores is almost indistinguishable. It's less expensive for them to make it as similar as possible. It's probably the same logic for making costumes and background all the same dreary color.

reply

Never looked at it that way, but that makes sense!

reply

You never read the book

reply

Yes, I have, and I don't recall Herbert writing that everything is colorless.

reply

its a hostile like 2049 its brighter than his most of his films

reply

Yeah, I continually found myself missing the crisp, clean look of the Star Wars films.
