Oscar Isaac & Rebecca Ferguson too young for parts

First of all, let me say I'm very excited about this movie.

But Oscaar Isaac & Rebecca Fergusan playing the parents of Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides) ? Isaac is only 16yrs older than Chalamet and Fergusan is only 12yrs older. Does that not seem like awkward casting to everybody ? I understand they could always age them with makeup and what not, but for some reason I have a feeling that will not be the case. All three of them are talented actors, but couldn't they have found two actors who were about 10 years older to play the parents... ?

They can add 10 years with makeup, but I agree with you. Why not just get actors of the right age?

reply

By no means do I find it awkward. The reason? Well, I’m used to it. And by that I mean, this sort of thing is common in movies (there are many examples of “questionable” casting choices - due to age difference - like this).

But even if this was an unusual thing, I still doubt I would have a hard time buying these great actors as the parents of Timothee. After all, their fictional characters come from a completely different world from ours, so the minor-ish age gap between the real actors should be no big deal. ;)

I never said she wasn't talented. I said she was at least 10yrs too young.
