Not sure about this

I like Denis Villeneuve a lot but this sounds kinda boring.

Am I the only one who does not like how he ends his films on a cheap sentimental note? Someone please tell him that he's a pussy.

WTF are you talking about? How was the ending of Sicario or Enemy sentimental?

Dune is the seminal sci-fi novel. It is to sci-fi what Lord of the Rings is to fantasy. It is also far from boring. Think Game of Thrones, but in space - focused on more of a heroes journey type story.

reply

I disagree, I never liked "Dune", it wasn't any fun and I disliked some of the main characters. My favorite sci-fi books from back in that era were Asimov's "Foundation" series, and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (which I read approximately one billion times), and many others I preferred to "Dune".

But a great book is no predictor of a great movie or TV show, the deeply flawed GRRM books have made an incredibly good transition to TV, and the excellent "A Wrinkle in Time" just became a movie that is reportedly godawful.

reply

If you like Asimov of course you will find Dune boring.

For me it was the other way around. Asimov boring and predictable. Dune = masterpiece :D

I am. I am very sure. This book deserves to be done justice on the big screen (Game of Thrones in space is exactly how I would describe it) and Denis is, as far as I’m concerned, the perfect man for the job. But book aside, at this point I expect Denis to make something astonishing regardless of the project. And also... what a cast!

Bring it.
