Is the main girl really singing?

Is that her voice or is it a voice over?

reply

Either way, it was horrible.

Neil Haskell was the only notable singer, and he had about 3 little blurbs.

reply

I kinda agree...I mean the main girl's voice in most parts got on my nerves...there's something wierd about it...I can only stand it in a few songs...such as Survivor...and most of the other character's weren't bad...Why didn't Neil get 2 sing more...I mean come on...he was the main reason I wanted to see the movie!!! :P There was better voices/singing in both HSM movies & Camp Rock...they should've at least picked better ppl 4 the cast of this movie...

reply

and adding onto the fact that it didn't really sound like her voice, from the sound quality and voice you could so tell it was sang in a recording studio - the way the voice kind of trailed off and a little bit synthesized, even during the acapella parts. It didn't sound natural at all
i know it's not convention to sound like an actress or actor is actually singing in a musical but still!

ugh and his FABIO HAIR

reply

After High School Musical success I doubt the producers would insult us by having this actress lip sync. And as far what other poster stated...thats your opinion. Obviously theres something or someone in the movie that you enjoyed to even come into this page.

so pathetic, this movie. if you gotta dub her voice when she sings with another person. makes this movie even more lamer. oh well, this should be expected from a low budget production.

reply

Jeez, couldn't they have at least dubbed her with a good singer?

reply

holy crap that girl sounds like a shrieking goat.

guy sounds good tho

It was so bad I was sure it was the actress! I mean, why dub it with a voice with the maturity of an eight-year old? I needed a car jack to pick my jaw off the floor after watching that sense numbing drivel.

i watched it and it didn't sound like her.
just looking at her i mean.
whatever .. i think she sucked regardless.

reply

i loved nina in this movie but they could have at least gotten someone that had a similar voice to ninas

roses are red, violets are blue
fudge is sweet, heres some fudge

reply

yes exactly.
when she talked and then when she started singing it was like completely different

"Big cookies, man cokies...cookies with nuts."

i know!!!
i hated that. It was so annoying. As soon as she started singing i was like "OMG are you serious...are they even trying to convince us that's her"
hearing that voice come out of her mouth was almost unbearable because it sounded nothing like her natural voice
i think they could've done A LOT better if they were gonna have someone else sing

i know. it was a screw-up on the music producer's part for getting someone who's voice is like 5x squeakier than Nina's. i know Nina is not vocally trained, but please don't make Ally's singing voice sound like a chipmunk. Nina was awesome, but i really wish they could've done better with choosing a singer with a decent voice to dub over the notes Nina couldn't hit. That's the only thing that annoyed me about the movie.

*EDIT* It was mostly that Keely Hawkes Pressly's HIGH notes that bothered me. The lower notes were spot on, but it's the high notes that were iffy. I do have to admit, IMO, the singing was a lot better than HSM (which I can't stand BTW)

I'm pretty sure she is for the most part, but there are definitely some notes that are retouched by someone else

This has probably already been said, but if you get the soundtrack to the movie it tells you who is singing and it's Keely Hawkes, not Nina Dobrev.

Even if it isn't/is Nina singing, I'm pretty sure that the majority of movies now with singing in it have the singing dubbed, even if it's the actor singing. So that the sound quality is better or something. It's what they do with music videos at least.

Will Scarlett has stolen my heart.

It's a voice over. Surprising enough I bet if I was tone deaf I'd sound better...
Could they honestly not find anyone out there in the world who could actually sing? I don't know what the producers were thinking.

music producers on this movie REALLY *beep* up on that one. but hey its a C tv movie what else can you expect?

reply

It will usually say on the actors/actresses page on IMDB if they do sing and it's not her voice....

reply

it wasn't her voice but i agree that they could've gotten a better person to sing for her. not even just to sound more like her but to sound good.

may the odds be ever in your favour
