Should have been made as a drama

This movie shouldn't have been made as a comedy. There is enough material for a drama, considering that it was probably based on a true story (I am guessing here, judging from the name of a script writer). It could work as a drama, with the same actors. But comedy?!! The couple's life is falling apart, the husband is loosing his whole identity trying to please his beloved wife who is busy searching for her own identity. This is a cruel but very likely story. It haunts you. This is not what comedies do...

Jewish culture puts laughs quite high in any drama, Fan. The Jewish classic Sholom Aleichem summarized it best: "You need to laugh. Doctors recommend laughing".

That is how Israelis take their many problems, with humor and resilience.

Yes, Database_Man, Jewish humour is wonderful and resonates easily with representatives of other cultures. Not the case here. Clumsy and heavy. A movie that just doesn't know what it wants to be. The problem here is not the approach, it's the style.
