Not bad, but still disappointed

Okay so this films wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It takes a premise done to death in the last 5-10 years and gives it a fresh look just because of the simple fact that it takes place in Dubai. I have lived in Dubai for many years and i liked how the film kept its authenticity. From the cab used, to the uniform, to the license plate, and sheik zayed road, etc. I was hoping they would have tackled more serious notion of Dubai, like its economy, racism, double standards, hypocrisy, etc. In that manner Sex and the City 2 tackled more of UAE, than this film did which is a disappoinment considering this film that the opportunity to do so much more.

Not sure how the OP can phrase Sex and the City 2, UAE and 'authenticity' all in the same sentence in a positive way.

That's because Sex and the City 2(although a bad film overall) really tackled controversial stuff about abu dhabi and UAE in general. From the tourism, to the lack of oil in the other emirates, to the hypocrisy of sex in the nation. That is actually the main reason it was banned from theaters there, i know this because i lived in Dubai for a while. The exterior is adult disneyland but the interior is a prison from hell. And sex and city 2 tackled more about UAE than any other film. And i am ashamed of JJ Abrams to fall for the charade put on by the gov't of Dubai, so that he could decide to film Mission Impossible 3 there. UAE is a trap that continues to ensare people.

I was born and brought up here and I have no idea what on earth you are talking about. UAE may not be my country but I love it to bits. No country is perfect, but UAE definitely is as close as it gets and easily one of the safest in the world. Maybe you are pissed because you had a hard life here or whatever. Either ways if you follow the law you'll have a GREAT life here. If you don't? Well no matter what country your in then it'll be hell for you.

I agree - the UAE is a horrible place to live. Corrupt, immoral, fake, suffocating, shallow. At least the western protagonists in this film captured the vacuous nature of the expats there.

honestly i really liked it... and i live in abu dhabi.... i thought it was realistic as well as authentic... it could've tackled more controversial issues, but i think this is sort of the start of more films in arab countries... more than how its meant to show whats wrong in the country... i didn't agree to everything going on (like how supposedly every1 must go to the mosque n if they don't they rnt fly worshipping god... or how everyone's trained in martial arts) but i liked it

I usually see people enjoying egyptians films, but i never related to those, i did however relate (sort of) to this one
