Cinematography really like Pi(1998)

The whole time I was watching this movie it seemed like it was a bunch of other movies mixed together. It had an American Psycho/ Fight Club feel and the cinematography seemed to be stolen from Pi. I personally don't think the movie was half bad. It was perhaps lacking a fresh idea, or even proper execution of the idea that it was trying to tackle, but it was an interesting experience to watch and it definitely wasn't your run of the mill movie. For a directorial debut I would say that this is a good effort, though perhaps a little plagiarised, but at least Vince Vieluf seemed to know what he liked and how to achieve a similar effect. Any thoughts?
