That's a Sad Little Movie

I mean, none of the people they showed really had a better life after they won the lottery. Buddy, of course, is the biggest example of that, living in a one-room shack without a penny to his name.

But even the people that managed to hold onto their money aren't really better off. The couple in Florida has a nice house and nice toys, but they lost all their friends and they complain that their rich neighbors treat them like trash because they didn't actually earn their money.

And the Vietnamese guy? Well, I shudder to think what that mansion he built for his family looks like today. When eighty poor people live together in a house, it's not going to stay good-looking for very long. I mean seriously, how often do each of the eighty people in the house get to use the TV/Phone shower?

The California college professor's wife divorced him the instant the money came into the bank and she took half with her. At least he found a better wife, but that wasn't due to the money.

The guy who lives in a no-tell motel isn't really better off; he's about the same. He spends his nights at a junk yard feeding the cats. At least he's satisfied with his life.

Personally, I have always had a little dream of suddenly becoming rich, but I've always seen the practical side of the money being more of a hassle than it's worth.
