I liked the movie, im angry in a way though..

I can see both sides but what I dont understand is why did Marlee get angry at her parents when she found out her parents didnt want to give her hearing aids or whatever? It seems like it'd make her think that she should do that for her son..
But it obviously didn't, it really seems like to ME that she wanted the boy all to herself and she'd feel jealous or something if he got the implant because she wouldnt have the connection like she use to. Seems to me like she's only thinking of herself, really. I mean the whole thing makes me really angry and I don't even know why.

Im more on the dads side then the moms..What he said in the courtroom melted my heart, and I understand where he's coming from.
It just doesnt make sense, if Marlee got angry when her parents told her that dont she think Adam would too when he got older?
I think so
Kids loose everything unless there's someone there to look out for them

I think she was more angry at the fact that her parents were adverstising deafness rather than accepting her for who she was. Like she loved her son even though he was born hearing and later became deaf. She would have loved him even if he never became deaf. And then she realized that her dad was actually upset that she was hearing at first. She probably felt that her dad wouldn't have loved her if she was hearing the way she would have loved her son even if he was hearing.

I completely support what both parents said in the court room. I am a bit vauge about what the mother said but I remember what the father said. I agreed with him. Nothings wrong with him.

Again, the way he WANTED Marlee to be deaf so he can declare that she was born deaf and is going to keep deafness alive. The way he put Deaf culture before family was wrong and I think that was what Marlee was upset about.

The movie doesn't tell you how the parents eventually decide. However, when the dad/father returns to the home to tell his wife he's realized that if both parents can remain best friends, regardless of their final decision, that will be the best way to deal with the decisions they are currently facing. When Marlee's character grabs his hand after he's told her this, it lets the viewers know she agrees with what he's just said...so no need to be mad at the mom/Marlee's character!
