is this Cold Case episode i saw a few months ago called Andy in D minor. The dad wanted him to get one and the mom didnt, and the whole hearing music thing. and the whole thing was over a cochlear implant just like this. idk just through out the whole movie it reminded me of that episode.

"ER" had a story line about this debate years ago, when the character played by Eriq LaSalle had a son who was deaf, and they showed both sides of the debate.
