What language do they speak? I am guessing french or spanish?

It's been a while since you asked, but I wondered the same thing. My relatives are Portuguese and Italian and thelanguage sounded like a little of both. After some quick research, it's Spanish with an Italian influence. In the north of Uruguay, it's more of a Spanish and Portuguese mix. The official language is Spanish.
