I feel so f#$king bad for these guys..

We should all go see them on there latest tour. Their music is pretty cool too.

I found it sad, personally. Yeah, maybe they should have been as big as Metallica etc., but if was going to happen, it would have been in the 80s. I can't believe they would go to a music studio and be surprised that the studio decided not to sign a heavy metal band in 2006! I mean, do they listen to the radio? That's not the popular genre these days. A studio would only put out a heavy metal record by a band that is already big, like Metallica. Not some no-name band. It's like the sister said, it's over, and they just aren't facing it.

MuchToBe. Are you a retard? Do you know how many new metal Bands come out every year?? They aren't the same cheesy 80's metal that Anvil play, but they're Metal none the less. Metal is a VERY popular genre....

That I didn't give a hoot enough to keep up with a form of music I dislike does not make me a retard. But then you know that, unless you are a. . .never mind.

You still agreed with my main point -- they are still acting like they are in the 80s which didn't make them successful then, and yet they are surprised that a studio in 2006 doesn't want to give them a record to make their 80s-style music.

Then making a statement about a form of music that you're ignorant about, is retarded.

The part that made me feel awful was the scene where they play to a crowd of like 4-5 people, and the posters are all handdrawn. I can't believe they stayed optimistic through ALL OF THAT.

One thing though is when they did play in front of 5 people, they played as though they were in front of 50,000 people. Not many bands would do the whole 110% show if there were only 5 people.

But yeah, I heard of them for years and never listened to them but after watching this movie I went online the next day to buy one of their albums.

The members of Anvil made the choice to carry on through hard times. I think Lips said something about if they put the band on hiatus that might be the end of it. He was probably right. Lips' day job delivering school lunches looked pretty lame, but it was honest work. And he was off weekends and summers to record and tour. I wondered if he considered getting a day job that was related to music like working in a music store, teaching guitar lessons and/or working as a guitar technician.

@jefgg It did seem strange that someone who's in a band - that has released several albums and played rock festivals, no less - didn't have a job related to music.

This is from the song "All Hell's Breakin' Loose" by the band KISS. It made me think of Anvil.

You know we ain't always winners,
but this is the life we choose
And we won't change or rearrange,
and we ain't never ever gonna lose
It ain't always easy when the goin' gets rough
When you're gettin' even,
you gotta show your stuff - tell about it now
