Opinions Based On Reviews
Had to laugh at the guys comments and his opinion based on someone else's review - goes to show not everyone in this world can think for themselves - or wants to for that matter -
I read that review and looked up some of the other reviews by that "critic" and all his review end up negative or have a negative poke at something -(unless of course it's a film with a "sense of righteous global-mindedness" or foreign of course -- you get the picture) -- funny thing-- sad really - and makes me not want to read his reviews at all now -
Now -- I actually SAW break and was lucky enough to go to a show time where Caradine came out and did a q&a afterwords and was pleasantly surprised -- The film (in the end) was really fun to watch -- and to see Caradine come out to a regular theater (not a premier) was a testament to his character and also his thoughts on the film -- He actually said "I do a lot of independent films and I actually like this one" or something to that effect -- got a great laugh from the audience -- I have walked out of indies at theaters before but stayed because I liked Break -- and glad I did when the lights came up and Caradine walked in --
It took me a minute to figure out that this was a film based around a comic book type theme (hence the character names) - and then I started to enjoy the light hearted jabs at certain film formulas more --
In the end I found it to have a good story line and also got a few good laughs -- considering that it isn't a comedy per-say - that is huge that they would have fun with the style and get a laugh or two on purpose -- not taking themselves to seriously is always a plus --
It is hard to find good action / drama films in the independent film market (especially ones made for very little budget) - so taking that into consideration - this film is worth seeing -- good fight scenes with good fighting abilities (the "Chinaman") - also with a touch of humor in most of the fights -
All in all I found Break worth a watch -- will be putting in my cue for a second pass -- and if you like action with some comedy and "thriller" thrown in -- then you might check it out for yourself -- RN
